Is there a fee for DDS?
No, copies of journal articles and book chapters are free of charge. However, we retain the right to cancel requests when the cost of obtaining an article incurred by Walden Library exceeds $50.
How long does it take to receive materials?
Articles will be sent to you in 7 to 10 business days.
Sorry, rush service is not available for DDS requests.
How will I receive my articles?
You will receive an email with a link to a PDF document. Please check your junk mail or other email filtering settings to make sure the message arrives in your inbox. You should also ensure that you have PDF reading software installed, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Why was my request denied?
Requests may be denied or closed without delivery for a number of reasons:
- The item is available in the Walden Library.
- The item cost exceeds our spending limit.
- The item is a duplicate request. We can only provide one copy of an article per patron. Patrons are responsible for printing or saving a copy to their own computer once it has been sent.
- The item is not available at any of our partner libraries. We cannot request articles or chapters from colleges or libraries outside of our DDS system.
- The item requested is an entire book.
- The item is part of a restricted or special collection.
- The limit of 25 requested items per student per month has been exceeded.
- Copying the item is a violation of copyright law or permission to copy is denied by the publisher.
What if I forget my password?
In the event that you forget your password, please follow the link from the log in page at Forgot Password? . You can then reset your password allowing you access to ILLiad.
Does the Walden Library handle my requests?
Walden librarians review DDS requests upon submission. However, requests are then sent out to our partner libraries for completion. All Walden DDS requests are subject to policies and procedures set forth by our partner institutions.
